In the article, the formation of personal qualities and logical thinking of elementary school students through the game of chess in the education of the young generation depends to a large extent on the individual characteristics of the player, and mental processes such as memory, attention and thinking are studied as an actual scientific and practical issue.
In order to fully assess the potential of elementary school students to learn chess, a methodology for assessing the ability to play chess in 5 areas is proposed: psychological qualities, physical qualities, mental qualities, creative and spiritual-moral qualities.
