TOPOFORMANTS AND THEIR SEMANTIC DIFFERENCES IN THE STRUCTURE OF OIKONYMS OF KARAKALPAKSTAN

Abstract

In the article the problem of studying the composition and structure of oikonyms which is a type of toponym, roots, auxiliary morphemes, including formants, their functions, uses and other properties are studied on the example of Karakalpakstan oikonyms.

The purpose of the study is to determine the function of the topoformants in forming oikonym, their role in the study of etymology. This problem is explained by the example of abad, kent and stan topoformants, which are part of the Karakalpakstan oikonyms. The materials of the article are important for the toponymy of the Karakalpak language.
